Legacy Society

Leave a legacy that lasts forever.

Our Legacy Society recognizes charitable people who want to see their philanthropy continue beyond their lifetime. Society members have included the Community Foundation in their estate plan or they have created a Legacy Fund, entrusting us to carry out their charitable vision forever. We are grateful for their foresight and dedication to the community.

Include the Community Foundation in Your Estate Plan

You can designate a set dollar amount or a percentage of your estate, no matter what the size. Planned gifts can also include:

  • Retirement funds
  • Charitable gift annuity
  • Life insurance
  • Property
  • Other assets

Once you’ve made a planned gift, notify us and we will recognize you in our Legacy Society, which also inspires others to give. You are welcome to remain anonymous, if desired, and your contributions will help our community all the same.

Identify Your Specific Wishes with a Legacy Fund

Creating a Legacy Fund at the Community Foundation requires no upfront gift or cost. Our staff will work with you to:

  • Design and name a fund that reflects your charitable interests and values
  • Include your fund as a beneficiary in your estate plan
  • Ensure that your charitable wishes are carried out after you’re gone

Once your Legacy Fund is established, the Community Foundation recognizes your legacy forever.

Creating your personal legacy through the Community Foundation costs nothing today.

The Community Foundation was recommended to me by my lawyer as part of my estate planning. Charitable groups serving older members of our community often go unnoticed and rarely receive the donations they deserve. That’s why I was pleased to learn about volunteers at the Lansing Fire and Police departments who partner with ‘No Senior Without Christmas’ to provide gift baskets to hundreds of elderly residents in need. Supporting seniors is something I will always do!
