Beacon of Hope Grant
A Legacy of Uplifting People
The Capital Region Community Foundation proudly administers the Al & Jan Granger Beacon of Hope Grant, a transformative $100,000 annual award aimed at supporting nonprofits that bring hope and dignity to those facing adversity. Established by the Grangers in celebration of their 70th wedding anniversary, this grant is awarded in perpetuity through an endowment fund, ensuring its impact continues far beyond their lifetimes.

A Vision for Hope and Practical Solutions
The Beacon of Hope Grant was created to uplift organizations that provide tangible, practical solutions to restore the lives of people in need. From providing housing and resources to survivors of human trafficking to services that help struggling families, the grant seeks to empower nonprofits that embody the Grangers' values of compassion, resilience, and generosity.
Ensuring a Lasting Impact
Through the establishment of the Beacon of Hope endowment fund, the Grangers have ensured that this $100,000 grant will be awarded each year to one deserving nonprofit organization in the Greater Lansing area. By funding essential services and innovative programs, the grant helps make a lasting difference in the lives of the community’s most vulnerable members.
This endowment not only reflects the Grangers' lifelong commitment to philanthropy but also serves as a beacon for future generations to continue the tradition of giving.
How the Beacon of Hope Grant Works
Each year, the family carefully selects a nonprofit organization is carefully selected based on its mission to provide effective solutions for individuals and families in crisis. The Grangers' goal is to support initiatives that restore hope, stability, and self-reliance, thereby creating a positive ripple effect throughout the community.
Whether through housing assistance, educational programs, or holistic care, the Beacon of Hope Grant helps amplify the impact of nonprofits working to improve lives and uplift futures.
