ECCF John and Gloria Nelson Scholarship Fund
John and Gloria Nelson were longtime residents of Eaton County and owned the Sunfield Sentinel for 35 years. The fund was established in 2004 following the passing of Mrs. Nelson.Scholarship Eligibility Criteria:
Students are chosen by the Lakewood High School Scholarship Advisory Committee. This scholarship was established to recognize and reward a Lakewood High School senior residing in the Sunfield, Michigan, area who has financial need and plans to attend an institution of higher education. Preference will be given to a student who intends to major in journalism.
Criteria includes:
-- Graduating senior from Lakewood High School
-- Must be a resident of the Sunfield area
-- Must have plans to attend an institution of higher education
-- Must show financial need
-- Preference given to students planning to major in journalism
-- Submit a high school transcript
-- If an award recipient, must show proof of college registration
-- Submit an essay of 200 words or less on the topic “The impact I hope to make in my chosen field”
