Joy Shantz

Communications & Events Associate

Joy spent her childhood living in Bangladesh and Malaysia before she returned to the Midwest to earn her bachelor’s degree in journalism from Michigan State University. She started her career in international education, working for the MSU Office of Education Abroad and Office for International Students and Scholars. In various professional roles focused on communications, community outreach, and event planning, Joy honed her expertise for storytelling and bringing people together. Outside of work, she serves as President of her neighborhood organization in Lansing and throws elaborate, creative birthday parties for her two children. 

As Communications & Events Associate, Joy creates content for the Foundation’s social media platforms and website and assists with event planning and promotions.
